Ryan, You Big Loser!

The Biggest Loser's Ryan Benson ultimately claimed the $250,000 prize after shedding an impressive 122 lbs. from his original weight of 330 lbs. Besides exercising like a demon, Ryan also lied, back-stabbed an ally and offended others with his offbeat sense of humor. Here, the 36-year-old doughnut addict from Spokane, Wash., happily defends his wicked but winning ways to TV Guide Online.

TV Guide Online: Did you have any trouble readjusting to life off the ranch?
Ryan Benson:
Yeah, I did. We got back the first week of November. At Thanksgiving, I had to go to Utah to see relatives. I broke down and cheated a few times and had to have some pie at dinner. So when Christmas and New Year's came around, I thought, "I can't leave." I had to take charge of my own environment and make sure that I didn't break down and have desserts.

TVGO: Still scarfing doughnuts in your car while commuting to work?
Ryan:
No, definitely not. I was a secret eater and that was when I could eat my junk food — in my car, going to and from work and out to lunch. [Jillian] said, "Ryan, if you never eat in your car again, you can keep this weight off." So that's what I am going to stick to.

TVGO: Your sense of humor rubbed people the wrong way. Did you tone down your abrasiveness or did they just get used to you?
Ryan:
They got used to me. The first few weeks, everyone was so serious. Weight loss is a serious issue, but I don't think reality shows are. People lightened up a lot once they got used to the cameras. My favorite thing to say every morning — and it would get Kelly nuts — was, "Kelly, I cannot wait until tomorrow." And she'd say, "Why?" And I'd say, "Because I get better-looking every day." Once they warmed up to my weird sense of humor, I got along pretty well with almost everyone.

TVGO: When you reunited with Kelly and Gary after three months at home, were you nervous to step up for that final weigh-in?
Ryan:
They both looked so good, Kelly in that red gown — she looked phenomenal and her waist was so small — and Gary is just a little guy. He's just skinny. It was close, though. It came down to that one percentage point.

TVGO: Any regrets about your underhanded game play?
Ryan:
The only regret that I have was during the second episode, when I played a joke on Dave and it hurt Lizzeth's feelings. That was my main regret. I never wanted to hurt her feelings because I think she is a really nice person. Other than that, I would play the game the exact same way. I feel like I really got along with everyone there, except when I did have to...

TVGO: Back-stab Lisa?
Ryan:
Yeah, when I had to back-stab Lisa and when I had to lie to Matt. He's another great guy that I hated lying to for a whole day. I couldn't tell him I was voting him off that night. But in the end, I lucked out and it worked out for me.

TVGO: Who's your money on for next week's runner-up prize of $100,000?
Ryan:
My three top picks are Aaron, Dre and Dave. I think Dave was more successful off the ranch. He looked great and he could definitely be a winner. I know that he loves to lift weights, so if they are using the body-fat percentage that they did [at the finale], it will benefit him.

Surreal Life's Very Brady Romance

Imagine for a moment that you're a producer on the latest season of VH1's The Surreal Life (Sundays at 9 pm). On the weirdest day ever, you'd still never say, "OK, first, let's hope Verne Troyer (aka Austin Powers' Mini-Me) gets drunk, strips his clothes off and urinates in a hallway. And then — this is the best part — before the season ends, let's hook up Adrianne Curry, the first winner of America's Next Top Model, with Chris Knight, that guy who played Peter on The Brady Bunch. That'll be awesome!" Sounds crazy, but that's exactly what happened. Two months after filming wrapped, Knight, 47, told TV Guide Online all about it. Considering that our phone call includes a surprise guest appearance by his new girlfriend, Ms. Curry, it's safe to say life is sweet for the former Brady Buncher.

TV Guide Online: What was the highlight of the Surreal experience?
Knight:
The highlight of it for me was Adrianne and the whole romance that falls out from this whole thing. I was not taking her seriously for the first week, so this should be really interesting how this plays out [on the air]. By the way, as I speak with you, she's sitting across from me! [Laughs] And it's really sort of a lark, an example of what can happen in these environments. It was a pleasing outcome. She's got a huge heart and an old soul and she's a ton of fun. I really wanted to get to know her outside of the craziness that was The Surreal Life.

TVGO: When did you feel you two had really connected?
Knight:
In the show, not only do you play with each other, but every day, you have interviews separate from everyone else. There's a [producer] there asking you questions, and what kept coming up was this Adrianne stuff. I thought she was playing a game and I didn't want to be played — I even accuse her of having an agenda on upcoming episodes. But at a certain point I thought, "What's to lose? If she's playing me, let's have fun playing."

TVGO: Had you seen America's Next Top Model?
Knight:
No, I had not. Frankly, the biggest fear I had going into the house was that I wasn't going to know [who] anyone [was]. You don't see it on screen, but I didn't even know who Kathy Griffin was!

TVGO: Can you put Adrianne on the phone for a minute?
Knight:
Absolutely. Here she is.
Adrianne Curry: Hello?

TVGO: Hi, Adrianne. Back when you used to watch The Brady Bunch, if someone had said you'd be dating Peter one day, what would you have said?
Curry:
I would have said, "No, I'm sorry. Never in my life would I be dating a man that's only one year older than my mother and a couple years younger than my father."

TVGO: Were you more than friends before the Surreal taping ended?
Curry:
Well, nothing from the neck down, I'll put it that way. I'll tell you one thing; once it was hitting the end and he started being responsive, it was really, really hard to wait. But I changed my flights immediately after the show, got a hotel room, um... and we spent three days with each other right after the show, which was great. And there was no cameras there, baby, that's all I gotta say!

TVGO: How are things going now?
Knight:
It's going fabulously. I absolutely am enthralled by her and tremendously enjoy her company. It's going well, very well.

TVGO: You're about 25 years older than Adrianne, Chris. Do you feel the age difference at times?
Knight:
Yeah. But I've learned a great deal about that perception. I mean, I think I say it in the final [episode]; what I was doing was blaming [Adrianne] about things she couldn't possibly know. But the fact is that she has a whole [enthusiasm for] life that a lot of people my age don't have anymore [and] a perspective that's refreshing.

Married's Peg & Al Reunited

After an eight-year separation, Married... With Children costars Katey Sagal and Ed O'Neill are reunited on tonight's "Old Flame" episode of 8 Simple Rules (8 pm/ET on ABC).

According to exec producer John Peaslee, Sagal's Cate dated O'Neill's character, Matt, back in college. "In the show's back story, [Cate and her late husband Paul] broke up one year and she had sort of a wild year where she dated a lot of people," he explains. "[Matt] was one of the guys she went out with that year."

Natch, Matt's an "Al Bundy-esque" guy whom Cate remembers fondly. She e-mails him "purely for nostalgic reasons, not for anything else," Peaslee notes. "What happens is, he gets the e-mail from her, and he's a man who's ready for a midlife crisis. He basically just dumps his wife, buys a Harley and shows up at her door assuming that they're going to pick up where they left off, and that's not what she had in mind at all."

While the episode won't "go into Married... With Children territory," Peaslee says "it wouldn't be any fun unless you were re-creating that relationship — without calling them Peg and Al."

The Bundy portrayers' reunion is fleeting, though. "At one point, we had thought if we could get him for more that would be great," Peaslee concedes, "but he's busy. He was gracious to give us the one [guest shot] and we were happy to do that." Oh, Allll...
